This is the fourth post of our series “Life in a Digital Agency”. The previous three in the series covered the role of a content marketer, a graphic designer and a project manager respectively.
Think the job of working tirelessly to help a website rank in the top results of a google search is for you? Take a look at the daily routine of an SEO Professional and judge for yourself!
9:00 – 10: 00 –
I usually come in at about 9:30 am in the morning. After exchanging a greeting with everybody, I read my emails and began planning all the tasks of the day.
10:00 – 11: 00 –
Now it’s time to attend the stand-up meeting and finalize my lists of tasks for the day based on inputs from the other team members.
I start my day with updating the list of our leads, checking Google analytics and keywords ranking for our different projects.
11:00 – 12:00 –
I begin updating the keyword sheets in all of my projects. I also quickly finish some of my other tasks if necessary, such as making changes to landing pages and websites if needed. During the middle of this hour, I begin working on directly improving the SEO ranking for one of our clients
12:00 – 1:00 –
I continue doing SEO- my aim is to do at least 1 and half hours for at least one client before lunchtime each day. Speaking of lunchtime, it’s distracting (Note from content writer: Yeah, another foodie!)
12:00 – 1:00 –
Banter, Gossip, Phone Calls and of course food!
2:00 – 3:00 –
I pick up where I left off. Keywords, traffic and website visitors- that’s all I think about!
3:00 – 4:00 –
I usually switch clients at this time and begin to work in full-flow.
4:00 – 5:00 – I continue the same tasks, but around the midway mark of this hour I take a small break. Usually, this involves food!
After this little snack break, I get back to my work, pumped up by my favorite Punjabi Music!
5:00 – 6:00 –
I usually devote this hour to making sure the tasks I was coordinating with other individuals have been completed. If I have time, I spend some more time in the world of keywords and SERP’s before ending the day’s work at 6 pm.
